My name is ……………, I am from Kanhoor, I am a student of ………………………. and I study in Std. – 3rd. My speech is about Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was born on January 23, 1897, and died on August 18, 1945.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was a freedom fighter of India. He was the founder of the Indian National Army. During pre-independence period Netaji had visited London to discuss the future of India, with the members of the Labor party.

With Japanese support, Bose revamped the Indian National Army and then composed of Indian soldiers of the British Indian army who had been captured in the Battle of Singapore. To these, after Bose’s arrival, were added enlisting Indian civilians in Malaya and Singapore.

Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi, the father of nation popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi or Bapu was born on 2nd Oct. 1869. His father Karam Chand Gandhi was the Diwan of Rajkot State. His mother Putlibai was a religious lady.

At the age of seven, he went to school. He was an average student. He was always regular and punctual in his class. At the age of thirteen, he was married to Kasturba. After Matriculation and college studies he went to England to study law. There he became a barrister and returned home. He started his practice at Bombay and then he went to Rajkot, but he was not a successful lawyer. In one case he had to go to South Africa. There he stayed for twenty-one years. There he saw the pathetic condition of Indians.

In 1915 he came back to India and joined Congress. He launched his Satyagrah Movement against the British. Under his leadership, congress started non-violence and non-cooperation movement to oppose the unjust acts of the British Government. He led the historic Dandi March and broke the Salt Law. In 1942 he started “Quit India” movement and forced the British to leave India. At last, due to his efforts, India got independence in August 1947.

On the evening of 30th January, 1948 Nathu Ram Godse fired three shots at him at Birla Bhawan while he was holding his prayer meeting as usual. He was cremated on the banks of river Yamuna; Today his Samadhi at Rajghat has become a place of pilgrimage for people all over the world. Thus the true servant of humanity left his footprints on the sands of time.

Dr. Zakir Husain was born in February 1897; He was the 3rd President of India, from 13 May 1967 until his death on 3 May 1969. An educationist and intellectual, Husain was the country’s first Muslim president. He previously served as Governor of Bihar from 1957 to 1962 and as Vice President of India from 1962 to 1967.

Zakir Husain was also co-founder of Jamia Milia Islamia, serving as its Vice-Chancellor from 1928. Under Husain, Jamia became closely associated with the Indian freedom movement. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest national honour, in 1963.

In his speech, he said that the whole of India was his home and its entire people were his family. Husain died on 3 May 1969, the first Indian President to die in office. He is buried along with his wife on the campus of Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi.

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was born in November 11, 1888 and died in February 22, 1958.

 Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was a renowned journalist of his time. Disturbed by his provocative articles, the British Government decided to deport him off Calcutta. Despite his house-arrest and imprisonment, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad continued to write against the anti-people policies of the British Government.

 Azad developed political views considered radical for most Muslims of the time and became a full-fledged Indian nationalist.

He fiercely criticized the British for racial discrimination and ignoring the needs of common people across India. He also criticized Muslim politicians for focusing on communal issues before the national interest and rejected the All India Muslim League’s communal separatism.

Chandrasekhar Azad was born on July 23, 1906, and died on February 27, 1931.

 A contemporary of Bhagat Singh, Chandrasekhar Azad was a born firebrand revolutionary. He engaged in a heroic battle against the British. His role was crucial in inspiring the others of his generation to participate in the national movement for freedom.

After the suspension of the non-cooperation movement in 1922 by Gandhi, Azad became more aggressive. He committed himself to achieve complete independence by any means. Azad also believed that India’s future lay in socialism. He met a young revolutionary, Pravesh Chatterji, who introduced him to Ram Prasad Bismil who had formed the Hindustan Republican Association (HRA), a revolutionary organisation.

Sir Syed Ahmad Khan was born on 17 October 1817, commonly known as Sir Syed, was an Anglo-Indian Muslim philosopher, Islamic modernist, and social activist of the nineteenth century.

Born into Mughal nobility, Sir Syed earned a reputation as a distinguished scholar while working as a jurist for the British East India Company’s rule in India. During the Indian Rebellion of 1857, he remained loyal to the British Empire and was noted for his actions in saving European lives.

After the rebellion, he penned the booklet The Causes of the Indian Mutiny – a daring critique, at the time, of British policies that he blamed for causing the revolt.

Towards this goal, Sir Syed founded the famous Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in 1875 with the aim of promoting the social, scientific, and economic development of Indian Muslims.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was born on October 31, 1875, and died on December 15, 1950.

Vallabhbhai Patel was one of the great social leaders of India. He played a crucial role during the freedom struggle of India and was instrumental in the integration of over 500 princely states into the Indian Union. Despite the choice of the people, on the request of Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel stepped down from the candidacy of Congress president.

An annual commemoration of Patel, known as the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), was introduced by the Government of India in 2014 and is to be held annually on his birthday, 31 October.
